Ross Harris, AICP, has rejoined the transportation planning team in Des Moines, Iowa.
“I am very glad to be back at SEH and excited to be working with local governments and the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) again,” says Ross. “It is also great to be part of a start-up group in Central Iowa and reconnect with many SEH coworkers and clients from years past.”
Ross has more than 26 years of experience in project management, leadership and business development. Eight of those years, from 1999 to 2008, were spent at SEH.
It is great to have Ross back at SEH. With his established client relationships in Des Moines and surrounding communities, coupled with his previous SEH Company experience, he is able to hit the ground running.
Ross will focus on transportation planning and NEPA studies for Iowa DOT, metropolitan agencies, and cities and counties. He’s adept in Complete Streets analyses, passenger rail and transit-oriented development studies, and bicycle/pedestrian facility planning.
Ross was born and raised in Iowa. He holds a B.S. Degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and is a die-hard Cyclone fan.
Ross became interested in planning when his high school civics class teacher challenged his classmates to build scale models of cities. In his, he built an airport. “I had no idea at the time that it would inspire my father to create his own little airport on our family's farm in northern Iowa,” said Ross. ”I knew I wanted to become a transportation planner shortly after that. I’ve since been privileged to work on many air and surface transportation plans, and studies, in several states over the years.”
