SEH Engineer Appointed by Governor to Higher Ed Committee

August 25, 2016

Julie Marinucci, SEH mining engineer, was selected to serve on the Iron Range Higher Education Committee dedicated to supporting northern Minnesota communities.

Involvement in educational outreach, strong connections within the community and in-depth understanding of the Iron Range mining industry are just a few reasons SEH’s Senior Mining Engineer Julie Marinucci from our office in Virginia, Minnesota, thought she could make a difference by serving on the Iron Range Higher Education Committee.

The committee is charged with developing the next generation of leaders in our area through education. The Iron Range Higher Education Committee guides the reinvestment of mining Taconite Tax dollars into higher education, benefiting our community. Personally, it is a perfect way to combine my passion for mining and education.

Julie was encouraged to apply for the Governor-appointed position by local Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation staff. The committee provides recommendations on how to invest a portion of the Taconite Tax, a tax collected from the regional mining industry.

Julie was recently selected to serve on the Committee and will begin to make a difference immediately.
